Comparison is the thief of everything you have been working for. And although we know it’s not good for us, we still find ourselves comparing everyone we meet against ourselves. Unless you are a narcissist and automatically think everyone is below you, you are familiar with that stomach-sinking-sensation when you look at others and compare yourself to where you’re *not*, to what they have and you have *not*… the growing discouragement, the quick accumulation of thoughts like: «I will never make it», «it’s impossible», «I don’t have what it takes», «I’m behind», «too late to the show», «I suck» etc.
And all you want is to throw the towel and give up. Crawl back to bed and sleep forever. Be angry and disappointed at the higher power that sent you on this, what feels like an impossible, quest of going after your goals and desires.
I get it!
So,
What can you do in these moments of despair to avoid spiralling?
Take a step back.
Breathe.
Focus on nothing but on taking deep, lung-filling breaths and staying with yourself.
As simple as it sounds. Try to not abandon yourself. That part that is freaking out needs you to stay with it right now.
Remind yourself that your journey is your journey, and that it doesn’t have to look like anybody else’s.
In fact, it can’t look like anybody else’s even if you wanted it to.
Because it’s your unique path. So why stress yourself out?
Remind yourself that there is a higher part that has the bigger overview and is guiding you with knowledge and awareness that your human aspect doesn’t have access to (yet).
You are exactly where you are meant to be, otherwise you would be elsewhere.
YES. Read that again: You are exactly where you are meant to be, because if you weren’t, you would be somewhere else.
When you get distracted by all the outside noise and attention grabbing, find the calmness to come back to yourself.
YOUR difficulties are going to be the lessons you’ll help others move through.
YOUR struggles will be your biggest treasures, as you are alchemising them into gold right now.
So remember, whilst you can get inspired by other souls, you have your own story to write.
One that only you have the pen for. Nobody, other than you, can write your story for you. And you are right on track and right on schedule. No matter where everybody else is at or what everybody else is doing!
When you get distracted by all the outside noise and attention grabbing, find the calmness to come back to yourself.
You are a mosaic that has its divine place in the bigger picture. Nobody can take that from you. Nobody can occupy your seat. Nobody can do what you came here to do. What is yours will be there, always.
You have all the knowledge, wisdom and strength within you.
Much love,
Stefanie
